Chris Herbert was a British soldier who served in Iraq. He was only 19 when a roadside bomb hit his vehicle. It killed his friend, injured another, and left Chris as an amputee.
Many people would think that Chris would be filled with hatred for Muslims. He isn’t. On the contrary, he is “frustrated by some people expecting racism from me, because I got blown up.” His Facebook post has gone viral. It has been reported by numerous news outlets, including BBC and CNN. Here it is in full:
Such an inspiration, this Chris Herbert is. I love the message that he is trying to send. Religion is flawed because Man is flawed. Blaming an entire race or religious group because of the actions of a few is bigoted behaviour that the world really doesn’t need right now. And that’s why we need to, in the words of Chris, “Get a grip of your lives, hug your family and get back to work.”
